My Mother told me that Homemade pineapple juice an eating a clove of garlic would help my sore throat and my cold go away. So I decided to give it a try. I made homemade pineapple juice to soothe my throat.
I am NOT a juice lover. The sweetness has never been my taste. I went in search of fresh juice but could only find the sugar packed juice in the juice aisle.
When all else fails…do it yourself. Bought 2 whole fresh pineapples for $3. Brought it home used a pineapple cutter to separate the outer from the inner. Threw the inner in the blender with a little water, used a strainer to get out the pulp and voila! Homemade delicious juice that I actually ENJOY because it is not super sugary.
I drank the whole pitcher within about 24-48 hours (with the help of my family) and my throat does feel less sore. Who knew?
What You Need:
2 Fresh Whole Pineapples
1-2 cups Organic 100% Coconut Water
4 Cups Water
What to Do:
Remove the Top of the pineapple. Use a pineapple core cutter or just cut the pineapple into chunks removing the outer shell. Toss the pineapple chunks into a blender and pulse until the chunks are gone. Then blend until it is a Puree. Pour in 1/2 the coconut water and 2 cups water. Pour the mixture through a strainer slowly to remove the pulp unless you would like to drink the pulp. Discard the pulp and pour the juice into a pitcher. Repeat the same steps for the second pineapple. You should have a full pitcher of juice when you are finished. Add additional water and stir. You can add more coconut water or regular water if you like. It depends on how sweet you want your juice. I like mine to be a little more watered down.
