Busy is the enemy of peace, Busy takes us away from our purpose. Busy is not truly productive in the big picture. Busy means life’s joy’s and surprises can’t find a way into our lives because we’re moving too fast to see and experience them. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to move so fast that I miss my life.
I know sometimes I just feel like a hampster in a wheel and I find myself saying to people when they ask me how I am or how things are going, “great, just busy”. Sound familiar?
Get out a piece of paper and a pen and wrote down EVERYTHING that you plan to do in 24 hours. This includes waking up, brushing your teeth, drying your hair, eating, reading, working out, projects on the to do list, emails, social media, target, practices, etc. Include distractions as well.
Now go through that list and cross out the distractions and things that take away from what really matters. What matters depends on YOU and YOUR priorities. It differs from person to person. Focus on what really matters and skip the other stuff. If that means you skip you emails during times that your kids are awake then so be it. Just make a scheduled time to get it done later when it isn’t taking away from your top priorities. Unplug or turn off social media while you work on a project so you can really focus. Cut the distractions and live with intention. Replace the things that you crossed off the list with intentional living.
Write it down. Get accountability for it. Make a written commitment. Focus on what matters and forget the rest.
What’s an example of something you will cross off the list today?
