It was not that lol my ago that this time of year was super exciting, hard, sad, and happy all at the same time. It was the time of year that we said goodbye to “Daddy” as he would head off to spring training to start another season of baseball.
Quin and I would stay behind and take care of the house. Pack up our entire life into “baseball” boxes and just prepare to make the trip from where we were living in the off season to wherever we were headed for the season. It meant driving across multiple states taking days at a time…just Quin (4 mo-4 years) and I. It was such a FUN way of life. At times stressful but to be honest, it was all manageable and made us who we are and strengthened us as a family. We loved to watch Val on the field and to watch him interact with fans and just the way he just exuded joy and happiness when he was in the baseball atmosphere. It is fun to watch someone you love live out what they have a passion for.
But like all seasons of life…they must come to an end and we must move on and move forward. We miss our summer family and the world of baseball but we are happy and LIVING our lives to the fullest with where we are at this season in our lives.
Walking through the Phoenix airport today brought back so many memories for me. It was bittersweet really. So many women traveling alone with their kiddos. You can just tell who are the seasoned “baseball wives” they have got it down on how to manage the kids/luggage/chaos and all of it with grace. People high fiving players saying “go up there and hit some balls”. And the players are pretty easy to spot as well, regardless of whether they are a household name or not. You see some of the newer younger players walking through the airport obviously nervous and excited all at the same time. Just listening to the conversations happening…it all just hit home for me. Made me miss that.
I look at my life now and I am HAPPY and THRIVING in THIS season of my life. It is great to reminisce about these things but then it’s time to let them go. Holding on to places and seasons of the past hold you back from where you are headed in this life. It is part of. It shaped you and made you who you are today. But we are headed to bigger and better places with even more memories to be made. MAKE THE MOST OF THE SEASON OF TODAY and love the life you are living TODAY!
Thanks for taking that walk down memory lane with me. Happy Sunday!
