It hurts my heart to see my friends or anyone for that matter in pain by the sharpness of someone else’s hurtful words. It is appalling to me how people lash out in such hurtful ways. Didn’t their parents teach them that if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all?Seriously though. I mean, think about what you say. Even when you are angry, and we have all been in a situation where we were so mad and just wanted to rip someone a new one, think before you speak (or type). Ask yourself, “what do I hope to gain from what I am writing”? If you don’t intend (or know you can’t) change an outcome or better a situation then just don’t respond. If their is nothing to gain from responding to hurtful words except feeling better about yourself by hurting another person, even if you feel hurt, just leave it be. Don’t bring yourself down to that level by throwing out hurtful words.
Live by this… “Is it true, is it kind, is it helpful”. If the answer is no then don’t say anything at all.
This is so hard for anyone to do but it is part of being an adult and just learning that something will get you nowhere but more angry and more hurt. You may feel
Good for a moment after you spout off but if you were to look in the mirror or even through the eyes of your child…how do you really look?
Be kind people!
Off my soap box.
